The system needs 240 watt-hours per day in standby. Standby means it does nothing, it just hangs on the power and does not work. What ran 12 hours a day? The indoor unit in the bedroom. Here sleep 2 adults, 1 baby and 2 cats to be exact :D Power consumption outdoor unit cooling in kW: 0.34 - 2.47 Three indoor units can deliver up to 2.0 kW cooling capacity (not power consumption but cooling capacity) and one of the four indoor units is designed for up to 3.5 kW cooling capacity. What the indoor units each need at least: apparently 2.5 watts in standby. I hope that was more helpful now :)

So here you can see it, on 06.08 and 07.08 we were not at home, so standby.
In the meantime, it is 57 kWh in August (27 days, of which 2 on vacation).

Not all devices are constantly set to cooling, I only turn them on as needed. On 13.08 you can see a big spike, for example. Here I cooled the entire ground floor from noon until night because we had a birthday party and it was hot outside again: 37 degrees in the shade… of course also the bedroom additionally in the evening. In total, it was 6.3 kWh on that day.
At the current electricity rate, that is 1.89€, which I find damn good.

Thank you, that really helps my mind right now. Meanwhile, I also have almost sleepless nights because of the energy prices. That’s what you have to deal with in an old building. But what I don’t have: 26 degrees indoors. Even after several days over 35 degrees outdoors. On the ground floor (where the bedroom is), we stay at about 23 degrees. Without ventilation or any fuss. That is a blessing. At least in summer.

I find the discussion about old building/new building a bit too one-dimensional. The apartment here is also in an old building and if it's hot for 1-2 days, no problem, the walls absorb that. From the third day on, the concrete is so warmed through that you need really cool days again and until then it is really warm. It depends on a few more factors than just new building or old building.

Of course, after X days even an old building is properly heated through. The whole crux of the discussion is, however, that nowadays "highly efficient" houses have to be proactively cooled, otherwise you implode. Thanks to climate change. But the fact that air conditioners heat the environment again due to their electricity consumption and waste heat (!sic) is completely ignored. And no, this is not a green myth, but scientifically well-founded. 10% (!) of the worldwide electricity demand goes to air conditioners...

The global problem, however, is not electricity in summer, but heating energy in winter (although I consider energy consumption for a few days in summer in Germany quite overrated).
