This summer was hot, but it was almost always below 20° at night. Therefore, I never had over 22° inside on the ground floor and 23° upstairs - without air conditioning.

Ground floor and upper floor.
The windows are shaded where the sun is currently shining.
The ventilation system switches off as soon as the outside temperature matches the indoor temperature, and when it gets cooler at night, the ventilation system switches on again.
After the vacation, we had something around 23 degrees last Saturday.
When we are home, we additionally ventilate at night. This year it cools down very well at night.

Although we live in the driest corner of Bavaria in 2022 (we didn’t need the record), it is not the warmest corner here. The outside temperatures this year have fallen below 20 degrees only once or twice. That allows for cooling down at night. If you don’t let the heat into the house like does, you only have to get rid of the heat generated.

But then you always have to keep everything closed. We don't want to live like that. However, since there were only 2 nights with just over 20 degrees here this year as well, we manage to get rid of the heat that did come in quite well ;).

No. The terrace door facing north is open when we are there. You go in or out, after all. The shutters are only closed where and as much as necessary. So no dark cave.

But through the open terrace door you also bring heat into the house. Not as much as in the south, but the air in the north is not colder either when it is 30 degrees outside.
