if you are now building a big house for three children, then the house will probably be much too big for you again in 15-20 years. I would first consider whether the old house can be changed, possibly extended, before I would plan such an expensive new building.

So I expect goodwill from the bank if we take the new loan with the same bank.

Well, if the kids move out, I would sell both houses either way. It’s no argument for or against for us.

It’s just a matter of luck to even be allowed to buy that one piece of land.

You are young. You can still walk a few steps to the garden. And with small children, it's not so bad in an old building if something gets broken; much more annoying in a completely stylized new building. What is wrong with normal radiators? How old is the house?

The house is from the 70s. We find underfloor heating nicer. You have more space for windows and more comfort.
