My parents have this vinyl on the stairs and I have to honestly say that I much prefer our laminate. The vinyl floor is hard and you can immediately see that it’s not wood.

With our laminate, however, everyone thinks it’s parquet. Also, there is no difference in the feel. Although we have high-quality laminate, beyond the 20 euro mark.

With us, the vinyl is just in the kitchen and we like it very much there, we didn’t want tiles. But in the rest of the apartment, it really has no place. Especially because it is also disproportionately expensive.

I have installed vinyl planks throughout the house, except for the hallway, bathroom, and kitchen. There I have tiles. I think this stuff is great! It lets the heat from the underfloor heating pass through relatively quickly but is not as cold on the feet as tiles. In combination with underfloor heating, I prefer vinyl to other types of flooring!

Nowadays, there are PVC floors with natural plasticizers that are supposed to be harmless. It always depends on the place of manufacture.

Interesting, I somehow had the impression that everyone wanted these vinyl floors. I need a floor covering for the kitchen, dining area, and hallway and wanted something consistent - so not laminate in the dining area, vinyl in the kitchen, tiles in the bathroom, and carpet in the living room. Laminate is rather unsuitable for the kitchen, isn't it?

So for ~50€ you can already get oak parquet. Installation may be more expensive though. But before I put some kind of hazardous waste, yes that’s laminate, in my house... better to invest a few euros and live healthier. I can’t say how disposal of vinyl works, but of course it’s not something natural either....
