Hello everyone,

we are about to discuss the necessary details with the electrician. We have fiber optic in the house and plan nearly 16 LAN sockets (Busch-Jaeger). The house is quite large and "angular" with a reinforced concrete ceiling. I have a few questions for the professionals in advance:

- Which Cat cable should be installed? (Future-proofing!?)
- Which repeaters/antennas should be planned (on-site)?
- Which manufacturer of the 16-port patch panel is preferable?

Best regards, Barossi

Hello,
first a question:
Are you planning 16 double sockets, 8 double sockets (16 connections), or 16 single sockets?
In the first case, you should make sure that you can also terminate all 32 ports on your patch panel.
In the last case, you should consider whether you would prefer to have double sockets and corresponding cabling installed.

Hi Jochen, we are planning 16 different connections on the patch panel, i.e. in one room partly also double sockets (living room, study), but also single sockets (guest room, kitchen, etc.) Best regards Barossi

- CAT 7 cable
- none... you only realize afterwards if you need some... and then you can simply connect an access point to one of your outlets.
- The manufacturer that meets the standard... so actually it doesn’t matter...

CAT 7. When buying, make sure that the wires are made of solid copper material (in case you want to pull them yourself). The cheap cables often have an aluminum core and are only coated with copper on the outside. Then you get 100Mbit/s and not 1Gbit/s. Unfortunately, you only notice this once all the cables are in the wall ;) I agree with my predecessor. I would not install anything fixed here. The technology changes too quickly for that.
