My grandma doesn't use any at all, so what now? That's very individual ... Two connections would be too few for us.

Preferably as a double outlet, then it fits . And possibly more in the study.

That doesn't mean, however, that it wouldn't be better to hardwire the TV, printer... But in most rooms, one double outlet should be enough; if necessary, you can always connect a switch...

Depends on what you do. Anyone who copies data sometimes, has a NAS or similar will notice that there's a world of difference between cable and Wi-Fi.

Hi,

With 100 m I wouldn't get very far at my place, in a full setup it will probably be around 300 m, I haven't calculated that yet. But it's still peanuts, you're absolutely right.

My thought was more: "why install CAT 7 cables now if by the time I need them there will already be completely different technologies?" I think in 10 years fiber optics as in-house wiring will be significantly cheaper than today.

Whether that will really be the case... ask me again in 10 years!

For now, you are certainly well equipped with normal CAT 7 cables and from today's perspective, I would even pull them in before plastering. We had nasty problems with an empty conduit...

Best regards,

Andreas

Somehow people thought exactly the same 10 years ago, and where are we today?
I also don't think you will move into those areas, or that the necessity only exists if you work with few outlets and from there distribute your network with switches. Otherwise, you don't need a 100 Gigabit or more "backbone" in the house.
And you can also go with Cat8, but do you need 40 Gigabit? Probably not, because your devices rather suffer from the fact that they have a max. of 1 Gigabit, or even less.

Pulling in glass afterward is probably even more difficult, as these cables are very sensitive, probably even after 10 years. If it gets stuck or jammed, you’ll cause more damage during installation. Of course, 100m doesn’t get you very far, I meant 100 more or less doesn’t make much difference. However, 200 was enough for us.
