Mount faucet on countertop?

Hello everyone,
For our new kitchen, we are considering whether the faucet should be mounted on the sink or on the countertop (not real wood). What are the advantages/disadvantages?

Advantage? Probably none. The further the faucet is installed from the sink, the more impractical it is in everyday use... or does it bring it closer? Then it is an advantage. Disadvantages... with reasonable sealing of the countertop, probably none. Why do you want to do that? Especially in the kitchen, always remember: function absolutely takes precedence over appearance and design.

It also depends on what kind of sink you have. There are some with a very narrow rim or some that are installed under the countertop. That question doesn’t even arise. If you have a sink with only one basin, the faucet is better placed in the middle behind the basin. If you have 2 basins, it is probably better placed in the middle between the basins. Other than that, I don't see any advantages or disadvantages.

Usually the question does not arise, as the sink already has a hole for it. If so, seal well in the countertop. After 15 years, changed the faucet with sprayer. Best decision.

That anyway. A kitchen faucet exclusively with a flexible hose and spray function. Fixed faucets belong on the bathroom sink.

Even there, a faucet with a spray function is useful for occasional hair washing ;).
