Hello again,

well, a house like this leaves little time for "just looking in" :) But thanks to you all first for your answers.

So, we can definitely rule out that there is visible mold directly under the baseboards on the outside. We have renewed the baseboards, and there was nothing to see.

The musty smell remains, but it's more... let's say "diffuse." I always smell it myself, sometimes more, sometimes less, my husband says he thinks he knows which smell I mean, but he doesn’t find it as strong as I do and believes mold smells different.

But there is a smell in the room that is not in any other, and it doesn’t go away...

I find it difficult to open up wallpaper somewhere – I also can’t clearly identify a spot where I would suspect something most, and then we would have to start again with wallpapering, repainting...?

I googled specifically for "Schimmel Messgerät," apparently they exist between 75-100 euros, sometimes cheaper. Hm. We have no idea about this. The device will probably tell me that a certain spot has such and such moisture. Can you say, before we invest money: Yes, here we have a clear indication of mold – or rather not?

There are these nutrient medium kits that you set up and then send in for analysis. But they are supposed to be very inaccurate. I think it's simply the "old" wallpaper or floor coverings in which the previous occupant and their mustiness still linger. Could that be?

Why should a mold tester show you moisture? One thing is not the other.

And I really don't understand you now: I have such a strange feeling of mold and that "smell" in my nose, and then I google for a mold measuring device, find a tester listed on Amazon for just under 40€, then I buy that thing and put it at my place (or whatever you get for those 40€)… I mean: more than finding what you were looking for, and that for less than a couple hundred euros… what more do you want? At least it can confirm or reduce your suspicion. More than we can advise you here about your walls, which we don't know. Anything under 100€ is not an investment – you try it out. My opinion! I mean: you don't want to look behind the wallpaper – what else can be advised to you? Of course, you can also wait: some people develop asthma within a few months… waiting for the illness doesn't cost anything [emoji6]

Unfortunately, linking is not allowed here :) For example, I googled mold measuring devices, found one for 90 euros, and it says that this "mold measuring device measures moisture in walls, etc." I have no idea what that technically means, maybe someone wanted to closely connect the terms for SEO purposes...

So, you know your stuff: A mold measuring device measures mold and a moisture device measures moisture?

No, sorry. I have no idea, I just quickly checked on Amazon what shows up when you enter search terms like yours. But one thing I know for sure: where there is moisture, there doesn’t have to be mold. A moisture meter can show you whether a wall or concrete still has residual moisture or not. In that respect, that knowledge is of no use to you.

But for a few euros, other things were shown on Amazon—as I said: if _I_ had ordered these things myself last week, today I would know if I have mold. _You_ don’t know! What’s stopping you from buying it?
