Hello,
I find it unfortunate that I have to register here in the forum under these circumstances, but I am really shocked about the "new" quality of the Besta series.
I bought a shelf from this series in white in 2008, it is still standing today and because I still like it, I have now acquired 5 more shelves.
But unpacking them already brought the first surprise, the shelves are no longer lacquered but coated with foil. Not so bad in itself, but the cut edges are so poorly finished that I had to exchange the top of 2 shelves again, the edges were so frayed. The other shelves are similarly poorly processed, but I can just about live with that.
When I inquired at Ikea why the quality had deteriorated so much, the employee only said: "What can I say, it is just produced even more cost-effectively."
I mean, saving costs... okay, but please not in this way... and certainly not for the price. The shelf costs 55€ after all; you can get similar quality much cheaper in any hardware store.
Best regards from a frustrated IKEA fan! :(
EDIT: Oops... wrong forum, please move to "What you always wanted to say to IKEA"!
