Hello everyone,

we have set up a large climbing frame and now want to spread [Hackschnitzel/Rindenmulch] in the area. We want to create the border to the lawn using a metal lawn edging strip.

We want to make the same separation at our hedge.

Now there is a relatively expensive option for 7€/m, which is available in 20m lengths and consists of aluminum and zinc, and there are cheaper ones for 4€/m which only come in 1.3m lengths. It looks nicer visually if you have as few joints as possible. But do they actually stand out? After all, the edge is flush with the ground so the robotic mower can run properly.

It is about 30m for the climbing frame and 35m for the hedge. For other small things, a few more meters would certainly come together.

Does anyone here have experience and can recommend something?

We had some made of steel that you can fit into each other - about €6/m. Bought 30 m, installed about 6... it looked so **** that I didn’t install the rest at all. Now we just have a smooth transition between the lawn and bark mulch under the hedge - much nicer.

Bark mulch under the climbing frame? Ever walked on it barefoot?

So I also don't consider bark mulch the optimal solution... Either grass or sand. Possibly some of those rubber mats in certain spots if one is afraid that the child could get hurt when falling.

I am a bit surprised now that there is such strong advice against bark mulch. After all, it can also be found on public playgrounds. It is probably not very comfortable to walk barefoot on it. Gravel is no better, as it can get very hot in summer. Additionally, we also have a cat or two in the neighborhood.

If you google that, there are actually quite a few pictures, I have never seen them in real life.. Maybe there is particularly "gentle" manufactured mulch.

On playgrounds, you often see such wood chips made of wood.

Best regards
