Had the topic recently as well and can only say, these thin metal edges are rubbish. Worthless, doesn’t look good. There are nicer, wider ones made of stainless steel or corten steel, starting at €20/m. But I was too stingy for that.

I find it extremely contradictory to want to massively fill the climbing frame underneath with mulch or wood chips (=full coverage++ for crazy money), so no one scrapes their leg. But at the same time, the whole thing is supposed to be bordered with a thin metal edge? Try stepping on that barefoot...

So I would use square timber as a boundary and round off the corners. Maybe there are also some available with rounded corners already.

So, we have now decided on lawn edging stones as a boundary. Now the question remains what is so special about the wood chips that are specially certified for playgrounds. So what is the difference to "normal" wood chips?
