I have the difference right in front of me with Gira 55 matte / high gloss, both white.

White & matte quickly looks dirty (office and in a single-family house), high gloss at most a bit dusty.
The glossy ones are also quicker and easier to clean, at least with the aforementioned Gira 55 switch program.

I also have some switches from Gira in anthracite and silver (aluminum), both matte without problems.
But the surface also feels different than matte white... ?

But you haven't answered the really interesting question. Did you nag your electrician because of that?

Then you have hopefully chastised yourself, torn your shirt, and dressed in sackcloth!

Only dust collects on the frame, but if the switches get dirty, occasional hand washing would make sense.

The switches from Jung are all made of the same material, regardless of which program.

It is definitely not the same surface. You can feel a very noticeable difference between the glossy white, the matte white, and even the matte anthracite surface (as also pointed out), and I can actually imagine that just through the natural skin oil on the fingers and the dust in the air, the switches get dirty faster, which has little to do with actually dirty hands; chocolate fingers are also annoying on smooth switches and I have to clean.

But, and this is crucial for me: does that now mean that I just have to wipe over them once a week more than with smooth switches (acceptable), or does it mean that even with an eraser and such, the switches will look like they should be thrown away after one year (not acceptable)?!

With an extra cost of 7 euros net per light switch and 9 euros net per socket, I am already considering...
