Hello,
our plastic sealing membrane on the roof from 1996 is under high tension. The architect and roofer do not want to make any changes despite ongoing work on it (a small hole was patched) because they claim that the old roof covering cannot be welded to. Our concern is that it will soon tear and cause immediate additional costs again.

I wanted to ask the manufacturer if there are any experiences with this. Unfortunately, there are no documents left. However, I found a piece of foil with cut-off labeling:

The foil is light gray on top and dark at the bottom. The architect claims it is PVC. It was extensively greened.

Maybe someone can recognize exactly what kind of sealing we have and which manufacturer I can contact.

Thank you very much for your help
Regards

I would say that is Sarnafil from Sika - and you are lucky, they still have it (Stuttgart).

And in case anyone asks: that is Polyolefin, not PVC...

Hi,

I just wanted to quickly let you know that an application technician from the company Sika came by to take a look and help us. It is indeed PVC. That also explains the tension, as the plasticizers in PVC have a high content but evaporate over time, which leads to shrinkage.

We hope that the foil will last a few more years.

Errors from the office - Sarnafil S is of course made of PVC. The print omits that.
