As a rule, people prefer the smaller unit – so the 5 kW one.

How is that supposed to work? That will be a hassle. Because basically you go from the Pana (from the garage) to the house with the supply line. Then comes the changeover valve (branch for domestic hot water) and behind that the underfloor heating. Then comes the return line, into which the return flow from the domestic hot water is also integrated. The return then goes to the garage. This is not heated by default, unless you integrate it into the return. But then it will be significantly warmer than frost-free and will cost a lot of additional heating power. You’ll really have to tinker or look for alternatives.

It is. But it won’t be deliverable before December.

Can’t I work with two heating circuits? Otherwise, I can also first heat directly into the house with the air-water heat pump and then heat the garage via the district heating line, depending on need/ temperature. The garage is somewhat larger, has three rooms with about 110m².

With significant additional effort (circuit board, sensors, mixing pump, temperature sensors, etc.) it is possible. Does the garage already belong to the 5.5 kW heating load? Otherwise, maybe better to take the 7 kW model. Both devices have the same modulation low point. Then you can also simply place the heat pump on the house wall and minimize all the effort. Because first into the house means laying two district heating lines – you currently only have 1x supply/return.

I had thought that I would set up the air-to-water heat pump on the garage (outside). From there I go into the garage and split two heating circuits. One goes into the house with the domestic hot water heating and the other into the garage to the radiators. So I only need supply and return once. Am I making a mistake there?

Alternatively, I could also set up the air-to-water heat pump directly at the house and from there go directly into the house and make the split from there. What would you recommend?

Thanks.
