As I said, it must not only be operable for tech-savvy adults, but it also has to be quick and easy for the child to handle. That largely rules out smartphones, TVs, and the like. By the time I’ve found my smartphone or the tablet or turned on the TV, the visitor or the postwoman is already gone. If anything, some kind of display must hang in the hallway, which you only have to tap at most.

Supposedly, a Fritzfon should also be able to access cameras. I could still imagine that being reasonably manageable.

Alternatively, separate the two topics of surveillance/deterrence and the topic "Who is ringing at the door right now" and simply use a digital peephole viewer for the doorbell.

Principle smartphone. After everything is set up, it can easily be operated by three-year-olds. My two (in preschool age) get along wonderfully with all this tech stuff.

There will certainly be inexpensive LED/LCD displays that can be mounted on the wall and only turn on when touched or when the IP camera detects movement. You can also use these displays to show the self-consumption of the photovoltaic system / feed-in / power drawn from the grid. I know, those are usually tablets running various apps. But then you just install a VLC player there and set up the IP camera stream on it. I think that should work well with instructions available on the internet (unless I have a misconception).

I also find smartphones disadvantageous because I want a display that is always in the same place (in the entrance area inside the house).

Not the smartphone as a device, but: "Principle smartphone"

since you seem to be an expert in this field, one more question for understanding:

do I necessarily need an NVR (Network Video Recorder) in addition to the IP camera, which I want to physically connect via POE and an appropriate POE switch, or is a standard entry-level NAS (array of hard drives accessible over the network) with the following function sufficient
"Real-time and offline video transcoding: The TS-251+ enables real-time video transcoding (up to 4K, H.264) to convert videos into formats that can be easily played on PCs, mobile devices, and smart TVs"
(from the QNAP TS-251+)

Because I could then connect a monitor to the above-mentioned QNAP NAS via the HDMI output, on which the RTSP stream would be displayed via VLC player. If there is no flaw in this thinking, the only obstacle I can think of is the following: setting the monitor so that it only turns on when the motion sensor is triggered (i.e., when something is moving on the camera, someone rings the doorbell, or similar) and otherwise remains in idle mode.

Thanks and have a nice weekend already

PS: Currently I have in mind
- Hikvision DS-2CD2155FWD-IS(2.8mm)
or
- Hikvision DS-2CD2185FWD-IS(2.8mm)
as IP cameras (ultimately depending on the shell construction and installation location, whether I can also cover the front door entrance area, due to the different viewing angles 80° and 102°, focal length is the least of concerns with 2.8 mm)

The QNAP is usually sufficient for home users, as there is a software NVR on it. In the standard version, only 2 cameras can be connected.
