The unrest is justified. Not only is this a prime example of energy waste, it is also simply unhealthy for people and nature when it is bright around you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

By the way, at a time when electricity costs 50 cents per kWh, many no longer even know if they can afford the consumption of their refrigerator and we are seriously considering running nuclear power plants longer. In times like these, people illuminate their house or garden all night...

Oh yes. And of course, these specialists then sleep with their shutters completely closed.

Instead of empty conduits, you can also simply lay underground cables without conduits. We did that, it costs almost nothing, but in the end didn't connect a single light. Only a few sockets.

I have to agree with the others. I also consider it unnecessary or harmful to nature and humans, and annoying for the neighborhood. The owners of such lighting systems usually stay inside anyway, maybe glance out the window at them, and outside nature and the environment have to be unnecessarily illuminated for it. Rather plan practically so that you have light where it is needed; such "lighting design" usually looks more like trying too hard than skillfully done. A starry sky is much nicer, and you can only see it well if the surroundings are not lit.

We have solar spotlights from Amazon everywhere that turn off after a few hours, look nice, and don’t use any electricity. Also a few moonlight balls, also solar. No one has complained about the Ibiza atmosphere yet.

Maybe not from the neighbors yet. With the animals, you never know.

As said, they go out when the power runs out. And whether the animals that previously inhabited the potato field here are disturbed by that, I dare to doubt. Much worse are the LED lamps in our new housing estate. On all night, looks like the airfield …. Great for saving energy though …. Unfortunately, the new streetlights can no longer be stepped on like before
