Good day. I had electric roller shutters installed in my new apartment (conversion). Now I have noticed the following and have informed the roller shutter installer immediately. - In the bedroom and children's room, not all slats close properly. In the bedroom it is 3 slats and in the children's room 2. Naturally, light comes through here. - Additionally, I have a lot of light coming in (from 5 a.m. because it's the east side) because the guide rails on the sides do not go down to the windowsill, but end about 3 cm before it! So light comes in very strongly through a gap of about 3x1 cm on the right and left! The roller shutter installer says these guide rails must not go all the way down to the windowsill because of the rain. But 3 cm is really a lot! I do not expect 100% darkness, of course, but something reasonable. However, because of these large gaps on the right and left plus the slats, sleeping from 5 a.m. in summer is out of the question... What can/should I do now? Thank you very much erika

Even if the guide rails do not reach all the way to the window sill, the window frame at the bottom should provide light protection. The roller shutters should extend beyond the edge of the glass, that is also over the approximately 10 cm frame, so that no light comes through. If light falls through the gaps between the slats, the roller shutters are not closed all the way down. They should be, but in your case, it doesn't sound like that. Please upload a photo of the lower area of a guide rail.

Attached is the light entry below the running rail.
Regarding the slats: 2-3 close in the middle of the shutter! So the shutter runs all the way down!

Now I understand: the roller shutters are not in front of the window, but built on the outer edge of the facade. That must be correct, then?!

However, it is of course annoying when you need darkness

Did he saw something out there? For us, it is also not a 100% finish, since the roller shutters go onto a brick roller layer, but that is already curious. I would possibly stick a "rubber lip" there that then seals and gives way if necessary (in case something goes down crooked again).
