Just like with any other device bought online: contact the dealer (in this case = manufacturer) and request repair/replacement.

After the warranty or in case of user damage:
Smaller problems can be fixed by yourself on the lawn mower with some technical understanding. Otherwise, the neighbor is happy to help.

Stihl fan - I think based on her (former) professional experience, she insisted.
That's why it had to be a double-handle scythe and not the simple carrying strap.

As is often the case in life - if you've dealt with it professionally, you can best assess the quality. What am I supposed to argue with my wife about?!

That was not meant in a derogatory way. And certainly, it is not a mistake to stick to what has proven itself.

I certainly recognize the opportunities that the WWW offers us users; but I also see the downside.

Just a few years ago, I could very comfortably in town

[*]take my shoes to the cobbler

[*]not have to walk through a grocery store to send a letter at the post office
[*]pursue my hobby (if I had time) and buy fabrics & co
[*]have a greater variety to choose from (whether you go to REWE or Aldi today only depends on whether you want to buy vegetables)
    [*]etc.

Today, even in our town (approx. 8,000 inhabitants), it looks like in bigger cities; of course on a much smaller scale. The ones who survive with their offerings are (still) family businesses where the property is owned, and a good reputation has been built and maintained over generations. For that, I am grateful, because these family businesses live customer care and that’s why I also shop there.

What good is it to me if I paid 50 or even 100 less for the lawn mower, but in case of trouble, I have to deal with an annoying hotline, pack the package, and wait without a replacement?

I find this development worrying and don’t want to be complicit either.

That would not have been wise

We also bought a Viking and are very satisfied.

Rhenish greetings

So I have a small Einhell petrol mower and have been satisfied with it for 2 years, even though it is rather a "budget" brand, the smallest model with self-propulsion. It starts quickly and is easy to maintain. For me, using a cable or occasionally charging a battery is not an option.

: I basically agree with you, but on the topic of "small petrol mower," I don't think there are major difficulties with repairs and defects. If you just do minimal maintenance, the engines and mowers are pretty robust. My father mows with a 25-year-old machine and it starts on the first pull. The spark plugs and oil were only changed once, and occasionally it was sharpened.
And after the warranty expires, the dealer/the local company will surely help, even if you bought it elsewhere.

I understand what you want to tell me with that. I myself also like to buy fresh vegetables at the market etc. and am also willing to spend money on quality and advice. I also pay attention to quality when I buy something on the internet (or, for example, at Aldi). In these cases, however, I am not willing to pay for non-existent advice. In the specific case (lawn mower) I knew exactly what I wanted and what I had to pay attention to. I did that and saved about 150 euros compared to a comparable model in the hardware store (not a specialized store). Those 150 euros were not worth the advice in the hardware store to me, so I gave up on it right away. I weigh this decision before every purchase and have done quite well with it so far.
