My sister has had it since last year. Great device (although: not a special offer).

Hello everyone,
I bought a Hecht 553 SW for my approximately 800m² planned lawn area the week before last.
It has all the functions I need (including wheel drive, 51cm cutting width, mulcher, and side discharge) and a powerful engine.
The first test on a highly overgrown section (the rest is not yet overgrown) was very positive. To start it, a simple pull on the starter rope is enough.

I purchased it directly from the manufacturer via Ebay (around 330 euros). When paying via Paypal, there was a 10% discount for items in the Garden category on Ebay. So it costs under 300 euros for a decent lawn mower. It was delivered by freight, and I only needed lawn mower engine oil and gasoline.

Question ... We also bought a new lawn mower in 2015; locally, from a specialist dealer and at a reasonable price. Nice to have: with the purchase price, the first oil change after 5x mowing, like a readjustment, is included. Should it turn out that the diligent helper acts up within the warranty, I don’t have far to go and receive a replacement device for the duration of the repair. How will you deal with possible defects, since you bought via Ebay? Rhineland greetings

We have a Bosch cordless mower from the hardware store for around 509 euros. It is now two years old and still easily manages our 250 sqm lawn. A clear advantage: cordless mowers are quiet and autonomous. My husband says: battery still top! A neighbor right next door got himself a cheap ride-on mower: the noise drives me crazy, and it also often breaks down when the grass is too long. You can smell it too. But he (my neighbor) looks incredibly happy when he’s sitting on it. Meanwhile, 80% of households here have a robotic mower. With around a thousand upfront, you’re in once, plus a monthly fee of around 60 € for the balancing fitness studio Somehow you have to keep fit...

We had the question on the table until recently as well.
The decisive factor for us was the condition of the property (and the good contact with the neighbor).

Our property is on two levels. In addition, the upper level has a slope with maybe a 20-degree incline.
Our neighbor bought a gasoline lawn mower, which we can use for the upper part of the property.

For the lower part of the property, we bought a gasoline brush cutter from Stihl. Who wants to carry a heavy lawn mower through the stairwell all the time? This brush cutter, in turn, can be used by our neighbor to maintain his slope from the street to the house.
Both are stored in the garden shed (both will have a key).

My wife would not be talked into a different brand (as a trained gardener, she just has her experience with Stihl).
Actually, I would have liked to have a battery-powered brush cutter because it is lighter and the battery can be charged using [Photovoltaik]. The battery runtime at full load is 15-20 minutes. So, you would possibly need 2 batteries. Thus, with a brush cutter + 2 batteries + charging station, you would reach a price that suddenly makes the already expensive gasoline brush cutter (compared to [Baumarktware]) look significantly cheaper.

For a lawn mower, a Viking could also have been an alternative for my wife.

Doesn't surprise a Stihl fan now. After all, it belongs to the group.
