Unfortunately, steel garages sweat (I am already renting one for the second time). But the problem is supposed to be manageable by using a fleece under the roof (according to the website of Garagen-Klaus). The car doesn’t mind, but this would limit suitability as a storage room.

Personally, I have never seen a smooth-wall steel garage (consciously). For the widespread classic steel garages made of ribbed wall panels, I would rather describe the plaster as sanded or a thin slurry coat, somewhat pejoratively as “sheet metal with crunchy sprinkles.” For smooth-wall steel garages (where I don’t know how to stiffen them without ribs, so reinforcements must be used, but I don’t know their inner sides), one is supposed to see no difference compared to a plastered concrete garage.

Does this mean: bead filled (with what?), or: plaster reinforced and of varying thickness (applied in/over the bead)?

Our garage will only arrive in one or two months... Therefore, here is a picture from the homepage of the garage and carport experts where we ordered the garage: On the outside, it will also be "sprinkled" here with us. I can report later on how it looks with condensation and dew water. We were told that this should no longer be a problem nowadays because there are several things you can do against it (including the mentioned fleece).

It depends on how the garage is used and whether it is ventilated. My parents have been using a steel garage for about 20 years without any problems. But only the car is stored in there.

Anyone who understands their garage at the house as an outbuilding and plans a bit of cellar replacement besides the car should stay away from steel.

Hi, I would now be very interested in the experience report, as we are currently also facing the question of whether it should be a prefabricated garage (also as a storage room)...
