To what extent? Display? You can, but you don't have to. Windows hardware, e.g. Surface, is sufficient. Although the original display is definitely recommended (not only with PEAKnx). That way you're independent of updates, unlocking, starting the app, updating the app, and stuff like that. Because that gets very annoying in the long run. Of course, there is still an app for smartphones.

I’ll take the liberty of digging up this thread from last year again.

We are currently also dealing with the topic of doorbell/intercom system. This topic is completely new territory for us. Our electrician usually installs a system from Doorbird. Since we are already planning a KNX system in the house, operating an "additional system" — meaning the app from this manufacturer — would be redundant for us, or rather, we would prefer to have everything running through one system. Now the question is whether it would make more sense to go for another KNX-compatible system? Doorbird does advertise that it is KNX-capable, but if I understood correctly, only signals, not video and audio, can be transmitted via a BUS cable.

Maybe you can share which video intercom system is integrated into your KNX system and how it has been working so far.
It is important to us to see (and hear) who is at the door, no matter where we currently are, and also be able to talk and possibly open the door from there. So ultimately, an interface on the smartphone. I can hardly imagine having a fixed display somewhere in the house anymore. But maybe you can also offer a different perspective here.

Gira 106 works great. Looks amazing but unfortunately also at that price.

Basalte Adelante. Beats pretty much everything in terms of look and feel, including Gira 106. But also in terms of price.

Otherwise, 2N is great. I currently have a Verso IP on my desk :)

„KNX-capable“ is a flexible term in this context and usually just consists of a contact from the doorbell to a KNX binary input.

How good the integration is depends much more on the visualization used than on the bus itself. Do you have anything there? A door with a motorized lock can be controlled in numerous ways. Whether the door communication and home automation run in a common app depends on the visualization. The market there is quite limited.

We have the Elcom from Hager on a Peaknx control Pro, currently still running via Domovea. It will be a winter project to switch to another visualization. However, we are satisfied as it is.

What do you mean by the visualization used? The topic is still quite new to me and some terms are not familiar yet.
