Hello,

I am building a two-family house with my wife and my mother-in-law. Yesterday, my mother-in-law's kitchen was ordered, and I then noticed that the wall cabinets will be hanging on a drywall. How will this be accomplished?

Even when building the room, care should be taken to reinforce the structure at the point where the screws for the cabinets will go in. For example, by using a batten from which the cabinets will then hang.

At least, that's how I would do it.

The cabinets are hung on a rail and this is mounted on the wall. And there are special hollow wall anchors with screws for that.

We used 4 anchors for a 60 cm wall cabinet to secure the rail.

However, you should not store cement bags in it. But it is definitely enough for two layers of glasses.

OK, thank you very much already. I think the architect will plan it that way, I just never really thought about it myself.

One should give the architect a hint before the problem is overlooked. We also had to reinforce the walls later on during the construction of the drywall with a double boarding so that, for example, a suspended sliding door will hold.

My experience from 10 years of kitchen sales: No, the architect will not think about it.
So definitely point it out to him.
And hanging wall cabinets with drywall anchors is like going on a winter vacation with summer tires: it works, but I would strongly advise against it.
I've had cases where wall cabinets fell off the wall overnight (after several years!)....

I also always found it amazing how many architects still haven't realized that the standard working height of a kitchen today is at least 91 cm. (Topic window in the kitchen)
