I would also reconsider the sink. A double sink in a 60cm cabinet means that both basins are not very large. You won’t be able to fit a baking tray or a large pot or something like that in there. I recommend a single large basin. There are also ones where you can hang strainers if you absolutely need two areas (but for what?).

From my own experience, I would swap the cooktop and the sink. This has proven effective for us, especially when guests are around. You simply spend much less time at the cooktop than at the sink.

I think the frequency at the sink is higher, but I think especially with the cooktop <--> TV setup, it would be a missed opportunity not to implement this. There's a nice live show on, and you want to prepare something, or one person is watching TV and the other is preparing the food – but can also watch along.

Thank you very much for your feedback

So, there are no (small) children in that sense, my daughter is almost 15. I want the island because it keeps the living-dining area quite open and because I like the idea that several people can chop together from different sides, instead of facing the wall with their back to the room.

Hmm, the room isn't actually that small for an apartment. I’ll put in measurements shortly. I don’t like the L idea that much; I want open paths to the balconies. The fridge open in the room feels too chaotic for me.

According to the kitchen fitter, it seems to work with the appliances that way. If I orient toward the wall, the passage becomes too wide and accordingly less space remains at the back of the "island." Unfortunately, I can’t get water there.

I also find the TV thing quite charming
But it’s rather incidental due to the mentioned constraints. The workspace is the island... and in a pinch, I can chop from the side. Appliances do not stand around openly, and the toaster goes on the island as needed.

Will do, thanks!

Unfortunately, I can't get water to the island.
Besides, I can't confirm that you spend more time at the sink, at least I don't.
Unless you also mean chopping there.

Yes, but on both sides there are only 50cm each, right? I don't think that's really much if you want to spread out a bit. The kitchen should be perfect and not require makeshift solutions, right? I think you don't need the passage between the island and the wall. Why don't you want an island extension?
