Thank you very much for your feedback
It depends on why you want an island - the usual reason is rather to possibly keep an eye on guests or children
So, there are no (small) children in that sense, my daughter is almost 15. I want the island because it keeps the living-dining area quite open and because I like the idea that several people can chop together from different sides, instead of facing the wall with their back to the room.
Well, I probably wouldn’t incorporate the fridge, but rather put it on the left wall behind the sofa. Then put the two tall cabinets side by side in the upper left corner, next to them the strip with the sink, and then a peninsula facing the dining area. So basically an L shape at the top.
Hmm, the room isn't actually that small for an apartment. I’ll put in measurements shortly. I don’t like the L idea that much; I want open paths to the balconies. The fridge open in the room feels too chaotic for me.
Are those cabinets under the sink? I would always choose drawers. Isn’t it somewhat critical to have a dishwasher under an electrical appliance because of the steam? Does it really have to be a proper island? If you put one side against the wall, you could make the island bigger. Personally, I also like the sink on the island and the cooktop on the kitchen counter.
According to the kitchen fitter, it seems to work with the appliances that way. If I orient toward the wall, the passage becomes too wide and accordingly less space remains at the back of the "island." Unfortunately, I can’t get water there.
Hehe, I think it’s cool that you can see the TV from the kitchen. Otherwise, I think you have quite little workspace, right? Only a few centimeters on the left and right of the cooktop and sink. I’m missing a larger continuous surface. Why not extend the island all the way to the wall? You also have some kitchen appliances like a food processor, Thermomix, toaster, etc., which want to stand somewhere on the countertop.
I also find the TV thing quite charming
But it’s rather incidental due to the mentioned constraints. The workspace is the island... and in a pinch, I can chop from the side. Appliances do not stand around openly, and the toaster goes on the island as needed.
