We have a fireplace in the KFW55 house. We have arranged it so that the entire house is heated to only 20 to 21 degrees (except in the bathroom). In the evening, we then turn on the fireplace, which gives us a comfortable 25 to 26 degrees in the main living area. A gas fireplace or YT is absolutely not an alternative, as the radiant heat from the fireplace is missing, which is part of the atmosphere.

Pleasant??? For me, 25 degrees have long surpassed what is pleasant, although those were roughly the temperatures we reached in our former house after about 30 minutes of the fireplace without any countermeasures – which is precisely why we consciously decided to forgo this additional heat source in the new house.

I don't have a fireplace because I was afraid it would get too hot. I also can't imagine that working in [KFW40] somehow. We are sitting here in a [KFW55] new building, without a fireplace and with [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung], and it already gets too warm for me when we light 2 candles in the room with 3 people. o.O

The "problem" with it is the underfloor heating, which unfortunately has the disadvantage that you can't quickly or selectively turn it down; but it has other advantages. We have Kfw40 but without underfloor heating, also because we definitely wanted a fireplace as a tangible heat source.

Yes, everyone is just different. We find that perfect for sitting in the evening.

The experiences from the holidays with family were, with 10 people in the room, the windows are already tilted open. The underfloor heating is too sluggish for that, in the summer half-year everything also takes place outside. Conclusion, fireplace not sensibly usable, except with permanently reduced heating
