Hello!

We own a semi-detached house, which is currently under construction. We want to meet the KfW 70 requirements.

According to our architect, single-glazed windows in the basement are standard, so double or even triple glazing would have to be covered extra by us as builders in terms of cost.

Now I/we would like to know how the requirements for the basement windows are? Do (!) they not have to be multi-glazed to meet KfW 70?

Best regards

Architect???? I read: "extra übernehmen".... Or are you building with GÜ or a developer? Wasn't the energy for the house calculated in advance for you and the window fittings adjusted accordingly? That's all decided before construction starts (fittings and costs for KfW)....

Single-glazed windows are standard? Even at the hardware store you will have trouble finding such windows nowadays, as they are now considered rare.

How it looks with KfW 70 must be evident from your energy certificate. The main parameters were calculated there.

Hello,

Your architect surely spoke of "basement light wells"?

These are nowadays usually prefabricated elements with double glazing and are completely sufficient in a utility basement. If you want to build living spaces in the basement, regular windows must be installed in addition to appropriate insulation (also for a single room to accommodate the residential unit, in the otherwise utility basement); escape routes must also be observed.

Whether you have to bear the costs for the double-glazed basement light wells or not is determined by the specifications of the provider you trust.

Rhenish greetings

We have masonry light wells with triple-glazed windows inside, just like everywhere else in the house. Since the basement rear wall cannot be insulated (from the outside), double-glazed windows were not an option. It was an expensive affair; the windows are relatively small, and paying nearly 500 euros for a 70x90 window really hurt. One could have actually done it differently, in hindsight...
