Is prefabricated house construction with a solid house floor plan sensible?

It was not a purchase condition. Although the building permit was part of the purchase contract, the plans were offered to us virtually in addition to the purchase. After reading your blog post about the planning phases, I got a bit of FOMO. Although the house fits us very well, what if a house specially planned for us would fit us even better. However, then again – what if a newly planned house ultimately ends up being back where the seller’s planning already is.

Including the planning?

I also believe that you should plan your house according to your own ideas and wishes.

Show us the plan, then one can see if it is worth 50k.

Against a price offer, or what would be the seller's expectations?
As I said – I read your information about the "suitability" positively – it would only still be open whether the fee would be reasonable (ideally this would then be considered together with the extension to service phases 7 and 8).

Have you already read the entire schedule series? – FOMO, nonsense, also read the two posts on the topic of building for old age. I do not see this house as your last one. Starting again anew now at the goal would cost a lot of time. September is just getting cooler, frost is still far away. Ask Schiller when the foundation slab could be done.

He meant that you can start construction and then basically adjust such things afterwards through change requests. Nonsense?

No, from acquaintances we have simply heard generally good things about prefab houses. Various manufacturers.
Whether that makes sense from a marketing perspective is another matter. But if the construction companies like to associate themselves with more well-known home builders and one could benefit from that, that is initially an advantage for us. Even if it is only that the house manufacturer makes a bit more effort when they know that the experience with them will be presented to a broader audience.

Sure, that probably also works differently. For example, I just saw Karo Kauer and Loxone.

Upon inquiry about what they imagine, he only told us what they paid....

No, I haven't had that much time yet. It is definitely not age-appropriate (I have even thought of a dumbwaiter because I already dread carrying the shopping bags up the stairs every day). But the house is actually supposed to be more for now, until the children are grown. And in old age, we might possibly move back to Cologne city center into an age-appropriate apartment or something like that.
