Is it possible to install parquet flooring by gluing it yourself? Or is it better to have a professional do it?

Prefinished parquet is also available as small strips, for example from Bauwerk, which I can highly recommend. It was very easy to install, everything fit 100%.

Yesterday a carpenter said:
He would rather not glue down strip parquet because it is hardly possible to get it out again.
Prefinished parquet, even if glued, can be removed more easily.

Someone else said:
Prefer strip parquet, it looks neater because you see the joints less, or they are more even.

What do you think about this?

Have you ever just looked at the different options at a specialist retailer?

Strip parquet naturally has more joints because it consists of more individual pieces. Why not planks if many joints bother you?

P.S. It has to please YOU, not others. So take a look and then choose.

Strip parquet is basically for "eternity". Meaning it can often be sanded.

We have now refurbished 20-year-old lacquered prefinished parquet (i.e. about 100 sqm sanded and oiled by ourselves; as non-professionals).

A complete sanding again won’t be possible because the wear layer on our parquet is simply too thin.

Do you have underfloor heating?

With the engineered wood flooring, where there are always 3 strips together, you eventually see the joints and it has a kind of laminate look. I find that unattractive.

Hmm, but laminate was supposed to simulate the look of parquet when it became popular back then...
