That is income like any other, the only question is whether it contributes significantly to the repayment (loan term vs. age of the children ... the younger the children, the longer there will still be child benefits ;-).). Yes, a buffer is missing and is especially needed for a used(?) house.

Thank you very much for your answers. We will probably save for another two years and then look for a house again.

Depending on the region, you can't get a house for €200,000 where everything is tip-top. I simply see the income as quite low. We have a little over 4000.- per month without child(benefit) and after all the house costs (around 1600.-) are deducted, we don't live like a pig in mud either. I don't see the child benefit as income but rather the children financially as an even bigger burden than the income from the [KG]. In other words, even if you include the mini-job and reach 3000 per month, that would be only about 500.- more before house costs than what we have afterward. Deducting incidental costs of at least 300.- leaves 200.- for the installment. Sorry for my confusing calculation hastily put together on the phone, I hope it is still understandable. Do you have one or even two cars? They also cost about 500.- per car...

The problem could be that interest rates rise again, as some speculate, and your savings will be eaten up or you will have to pay the same installment for a smaller loan...

Which is basically correct, but should not be an incentive to over-indebt yourself now.

For this, you then have higher security and repay faster.
