I think it was more of a rip-off for us or just an extra commission, since the life insurance isn't mentioned at all in the loan contract.

Also with Allianz & Sparkasse there were no health questions regarding the loan (status: the week before last).

Thank you for the many answers!

Could someone say something more about the two questions:

From when is a life insurance required?

I quote my second question myself:
"Another possibility would be that I repay the loan alone. With the rate we have in mind (2500 euros), 1700 euros would still remain from my salary. Would the banks approve that? I think I read that more than 35% of the salary is not accepted."

Thank you!

At the Sparkasse, we were neither asked health questions nor offered insurance.

Now concluded through Interhyp with Ing-Diba, likewise neither questions nor insurance.

The situation where only one partner services the loan certainly occurs more often. However, the question is whether the bank then only considers the living expenses for both from your salary or if it would take your partner’s income into account for that. Maybe it could be arranged with the bank so that you service the loan alone, but your partner essentially pays rent, so you can declare this as income. That way, the overall burden would be lower. Or you set the installment so that, from the bank’s perspective, the loan can be comfortably serviced by you alone, and the difference to the desired installment is saved separately and later paid towards the loan as a special repayment.

And that is exactly my question. When is that the case? I've heard different things. Some say no more than 35% of the net salary is allowed. Others say if you have 1000 euros left to live on, the bank will grant the loan. Are there any uniform, transparent regulations at all or does each bank decide at its own discretion?
