Is a venetian blind necessary on the east side?

Actually, the question can also be formulated more generally: on which sides do venetian blinds really make sense if privacy is not an issue and it is only about sun protection?

Or "does one not do that" and should install venetian blinds everywhere if one already does it on the south and west? South and west are also fixed for us in this regard – so with venetian blinds.

We have mixed.
North only roller shutters, but these are only secondary rooms.
East 1 venetian blind in the living room, 1 roller shutter in the WC.
South venetian blind in the common room, roller shutters in the other rooms.
West 1 venetian blind in the office.

Many mix, we do too. One should not forget that [Raffstoren] are more susceptible to wind. That is annoying with the floor-to-ceiling bathroom window and storm.

We have nothing on the north outside. On the east only in the upper floor in the main bathroom, otherwise nothing. The remaining building sides, which generally also have significantly more glass surfaces, are completely with [Raffstores]. Haven't missed anything so far.

North nothing East roller shutters (bedrooms, kitchen, etc.) South venetian blinds (because living room) West no windows (semi-detached house) And yes, that is exactly how it should be. The east side is completely dark, good for falling asleep and blocking out the early morning sun, the south side blocks the sun but lets light through, and the north side is only bathroom, toilet, and utility room anyway.

For us, east refers to the front door, main hallway (from entrance to open living-dining-kitchen area), and dining area. The facade actually faces slightly northeast and is the side towards the neighbor. Therefore, we are not considering any darkening options (so no blinds or roller shutters) but only curtains inside as privacy protection.

So, as I see it here, no one in such a situation feels the need to install expensive blinds or roller shutters on the east side facing the neighbor. Bedrooms would, of course, be a different matter.

We will equip everything on the south side (garden side) with blinds and probably on the west side as well. We have no windows on the north side (street side, garage).
