Is a venetian blind necessary on the east side?

The optimum is controllable. An ever-present roof overhang is not. Depending on the type of construction, it has the advantage of being "already there," but that's about it.

An inexpensive, effective shading—and sometimes also very pretty—are window shutters. These are not only available with a pivot hinge but also as a sliding element—even optionally electric. It doesn't always have to be the venetian blinds.

I meant more to decide on an individual element basis between roller shutters, venetian blinds, shutters, sliding shutters, awnings, etc., or combinations thereof, rather than universally using venetian blinds – not to choose the solutions from the women's menu.

I wonder what the difference in solar radiation between west and east is supposed to be (local buildings/trees/similar naturally excluded). It seems to come from both directions at the same angle and thus equally intense. If anything, it hits harder in the morning because the air is cleaner.

There is no difference. In the East, many windows are smaller due to the floor plan, so it would be better to do without external shading there. And from the feeling, the west sun is warmer when the house has heated up during the day.
