We are currently building and completely forgoing geothermal energy, photovoltaic systems, solar collectors & Co. To still meet the requirements of the legislator, more savings must be made through insulation and sealing. Everything else can be retrofitted at some point, as pipes are prepared up to the attic and underfloor heating is installed in all rooms. In my opinion, these calculations about cost-effectiveness are purely theoretical anyway, because you don't even know if the system will function without issues until day X. Acquisition costs + maintenance costs + repairs + performance loss + ... form a sum that must be compared to conventional consumers. It is more a matter of personal preference than an ecologically and economically sensible investment.
