No, I didn’t see that. That’s why I put "in the USA" in quotation marks. Mostly it’s about California or Texas. In Chicago, houses are more solid. Since we will be building soon ourselves, I find it enormously funny that "in the USA" many things are just quickly stapled together. Or a blonde woman tapping a wall with a little hammer and then it falls apart. Not to mention insulation, thermal protection, and arc fault circuit interrupters. I find it fascinating that you can also build pretty houses like that.

You could also say: nice on the outside, ugly on the inside!

I have never "understood" the saying "The axe in the house replaces the carpenter" in such a way that a little hammer in the hands of a blonde turns into a wrecking ball or whatever it's called.

In principle, I find the liberalism of the Americans sympathetic. I understand why I need structural analysis in Germany. I don’t understand why a development plan prohibits black or blue roofs or prescribes hedges. The energy saving ordinance as a recommendation is okay, promoting certain standards is also okay, but if I want to build more simply and am willing to pay for gas, why should anyone forbid me? Nanny state, awful, I’m not a child. Father state and subjects, that’s Prussia and authoritarian thinking. Also, why am I not allowed to do the house wiring myself, it’s my house, why not do it myself, I’m allowed to install a heating system myself... or install windows. Why does city councilor Hufnagel want to forbid me from planting palm trees in the garden, my garden, etc. So, with the Americans you are at least free, even if unprotected. Are we in [D.] not mature enough for that?
