Interior painting defective or acceptable?

Hello everyone,

we had some walls painted in color in our apartment (new building).

As can be seen in the photos, the walls were not painted exactly up to the ceiling. Uneven edges/borders are clearly visible – in some places more, in others less.

Do I have to accept this or is it a defect?

Thank you very much for the help!

Best regards,

Jegor

Here you made a huge mistake, you never paint colored walls up to the ceiling.

The transitions between the wall and ceiling are never 100% straight, and that creates a uniform and consistent appearance.

I would now tape off the wall and paint a white stripe.

Tomtom is right there. It looks the same here for us, but unlike you, it doesn’t bother us.

You can see that the cleaner wasn’t the best, and therefore the painter has little chance to make it look better. Because if he had painted a bit higher, it would look like the ceiling was painted.

That would probably have been even worse.

That is simply one possible way to design the transition to the ceiling. You could also paint beyond that, but then the impression arises that it was painted too high, as bookstar already wrote.

Our painter did it as suggested by , and we are also satisfied with that. I wouldn’t be happy with something like in the pictures either; it doesn’t just go away on its own. However, doing that afterwards with the contrast stripe is not as simple as just painting over it with white if you want it to look neat. You have to work with both colors.

Painted in color yourself? That’s an art, including gluing. It will never be perfectly straight.
