Interior painting defective or acceptable?

I agree with the others. I paint my walls myself, always in color.
Used to be close to the ceiling like you, now taped off with a white stripe.
Precisely for that reason. It would never look better or different if painted close to the ceiling.

Therefore, not a defect. The untidiness in this case is the plaster.

Brbrbrbrbr, this botched strip is so 1980, probably still made of Styrofoam

Exactly. Styrofoam, painted with ceiling paint and glued with Sille. Just like in the old days. Tried and true, always gladly used, throughout our entire house.
