Transition from stone wall to wooden ceiling is covered this way, no cracks visible. Botched tool of the painters. Works well.

Our drywall installer also recommended this for the transitions. However, I don't find the word "makeshift" appropriate here, because some things are unavoidable. But this also applies to a normal paint job like with OP.

"Pfuschleiste" is craftsmen's slang, of course it is not botched work, but a trick to conceal inevitable cracks. And a cheap trick at that.

I think it looks good! Especially if the wall has a different color like yours.

It's simply a matter of taste. Such historicizing elements probably don't work as well on Bauhaus flat roofs.
