Hello,

we have a large entrance portal from the terrace to the hallway of our apartment in the house. It is very beautiful and should remain characterful. However, in winter we cannot get the hallway above 16°C even though we heat continuously. This should change next winter, and here the question arises how. Besides the door, which is slightly warped and probably only a carpenter can restore it, I also think about replacing the windows (they do not need to be able to be opened). When it comes to the wood, I lack imagination; maybe someone has an idea or is familiar with this. It should also be burglar-proof.

Greetings from Bochum

Wow I personally find that really pretty. So when the carpenter is there for the door, ask right away if he also replaces panes. As I see it, a glass replacement could probably make a difference here. Are the panes double-glazed? Do you have underfloor heating or radiators? With radiators, you can either have an additional one installed or replace the existing one with a larger one.

Thank you, it is pretty, that's why we want to keep it and just refurbish it a bit. Replacing the panes will certainly help, but I think a lot of it also comes from the wood itself, since it is not particularly thick. I hadn't even thought about radiators - do you think it would help to put flat radiators directly in front of the glass elements to the right and left of the door?

Greetings. Thomas.

Thank you, it is pretty, which is why it should stay that way and only be slightly refurbished. The windows are like this and like that. They definitely all need to be triple-glazed. My big problem, however, is the wood itself – it also does not insulate particularly well. Do you think it would be helpful to install flat radiators in front of the glass elements to the right and left of the door? Grüüüüüße. Thomas.
