Installation location of heat pump - in the south?

Only if he had not previously considered the idea of an interior setup and therefore faced the above-mentioned problem. Anyway, if the OP - for whatever reasons - needs/wants a split unit, then the basement is of course not an option.

Can you really operate an air-to-water heat pump completely indoors?!? That would cool down the environment right where it is installed...
