Hello I have the following question: In my kitchen there are 3 base cabinets with 2x20cm drawers on top and 1x40cm drawer at the bottom Maximera drawers, like this one but 80 and 60cm wide: METOD / Förvara Base cabinet with 3 drawers, black, Bodbyn gray The top two drawers are medium height, the bottom drawer is tall height. I would now like to add another drawer without a front above the bottom drawer (and thus below the middle drawer), which would then be located behind the upper part of the lower 40cm front. Is that possible? And if yes, which drawer would I have to buy from Ikea? Regards Sections Manager

Hello section head,

yes, that works without any problems. We have exactly the same front grid 40 - 20 - 20 in our kitchen. I once built a middle drawer and three low drawers behind the 40 fronts for us.

Although I think the middle drawer is not intended as an inner drawer and the lower drawer then has to be a middle one instead of a high drawer! But since I had "leftover" middle drawers, I just tried it and it works. However, the inner drawer must then be mounted so high (it almost divides in half), that it can only be opened with the handle under the panel. With the low drawers, you can also reach into the panel from above to open them.

Here is a picture of it.

Of course, it also depends on how much height you need in the lower drawer.

Regards

Thank you!
Only, will a middle drawer also fit behind my 40 cm front together with the tall drawer, or do I have to take a low drawer?
Best regards

In terms of dimensions, it is basically possible, but you would then have to adjust the front panel of the inner drawer - it no longer works with a 20 cm front panel. And first check if you can find a suitable row of holes to install the inner drawer.

Height Maximera medium: 14.4 cm
Height Maximera high: 21.2 cm

Maximera medium with 20 cm front panel 21.2 cm Maximera high > 38.2 cm (40 - 1.8 bottom panel) = does not fit.
Maximera medium with e.g. 15 cm front panel 21.2 cm Maximera high = 36.2 cm = can work if there is a suitable row of holes.

The front for the medium-high pull-out is only 14.5 cm high, isn't it!?

Right, I forgot that the fronts for the inner drawers are not the standard fronts and already match the heights of the drawers.

So the calculation example is:
Maximera medium with panel 14.5 cm 21.2 cm Maximera high = 35.7 cm < 38.2 cm can work if there is a suitable row of holes
