Dear Ikea Pros
I am currently planning my kitchen and having quite a few problems with it. My kitchen Ikea kvadrat beech is over 20 years old, since next year Faktum will be discontinued, it now needs to be renewed. Some cabinets are still in great shape, so I only want to replace all Kvadrat fronts and the countertop and buy a few new cabinets.
I need some tips for that, it would be great if you could help me.
1. We still have real cast iron radiator panels, the pipes run 10 cm in front of the wall, so the 62 cm deep countertop is not enough, mine is currently 68 cm deep. I would like to use a Numerär solid wood countertop. Can you add a piece behind the cooktop about 1 m long? A custom-made countertop is too expensive for me, and I can’t wait that long.
2. Can I use an existing regular 60 cm base cabinet for the sink and install a pull-out with door opener for waste separation inside it?
3. I will definitely have the kitchen delivered, but assembly would not be possible at a fixed price because of the old cabinets that are to be reused. According to Ikea, the assembly would then cost €80/h, how long do the installers usually need for a 5 m kitchen?
One more silly question about the Ikea kitchen planner, I’m not really getting the hang of it. Since our Ikea Kvadrat kitchen basically has a slanted ceiling that is not at a right angle, I drew in partition walls for it. But now you can no longer look into the kitchen during the planning, only from above. Is there a way to make the walls "transparent" like normal walls?
Thanks a lot and best regards
