Hi there,

I have a question:

I am about to buy a kitchen from Ikea.
I have already had a kitchen planned by Ikea.

But unfortunately, I am not very experienced when it comes to transport and assembly.
In other words, I am dependent on Ikea and their service.
The nearest Ikea is about 30km from my place of residence.

What experiences have you had with transport and assembly by Ikea?
I am primarily interested in whether the fun is still affordable in the end, or if it would be better to choose a local furniture store.

Will the external transport and assembly be too expensive in the end?
Should I perhaps transport it myself after all?
I am concerned that I might be missing some parts in the end and then have to make a double trip...
That can be annoying, right?! ops:

Please share your experiences with me!
I am curious....

Best regards,
Asia-Red

hello,
so we had a kitchen measured, planned, and delivered!
you can find info on the ikea homepage under "Küche" quite far down under "mach es selbst oder..."
we arranged everything by e-mail because we didn’t feel like calling the 0180 number.
that all worked quite well.
first, a company came out to measure the room. a subcontractor. he wrote everything down. that cost 70 euros, which you get refunded when you buy a kitchen.
you can skip that if you measure yourself, but we thought: if the guy measures wrong, then it’s not our fault, and since we definitely wanted to buy a kitchen there, the 70 euros weren’t too expensive for us.
by e-mail, we had already given an idea of how we imagined the kitchen. which cabinets we wanted, which fronts, and so on.
then an online meeting was arranged. we were connected by phone with a lady from ikea and had to log into a homepage at the same time. she then set everything up for us with the kitchen planner, we gave further wishes, discussed with her how we wanted to arrange everything, etc.
in the end our kitchen was fixed virtually.
that was really a nice thing.
then we had 4 weeks to think about it or to make further changes, etc., and to finalize the order.
after about 3 weeks we were sure that we wanted this kitchen and then placed the order.
unfortunately, we had some bad luck with the delivery time. there were some delays due to technical problems, but oh well. I guess you can never be 100% safe from that. but ikea waived the delivery costs of 79 euros for us! I thought that was pretty nice.
now yesterday ALL the stuff FINALLY arrived!!! *yay*
it was all really easy. a big hermes delivery van came on time at the agreed time with two nice gentlemen who carried everything inside for me and put it where I wanted. of course, I helped with unloading too, but I think that wasn’t really necessary. the guys even called half an hour before to say they would be at my place within the next 30 minutes. I really thought that was great. that has never happened with other suppliers!
yesterday we immediately started with the assembly. so far everything has been very easy. we now have all the corpus units assembled and partly already fitted with drawers. now we’re still thinking about whether to use the partial assembly service or not. a full assembly would have been too expensive since the kitchen is very big and charged by meters of kitchen. we wanted to save that. with the partial assembly, a technician would come out who screws together the assembled corpus units, aligns them, connects the technology, and so on. but we’ll see, maybe we can still do it ourselves.
but so far I’m satisfied. the contact with ikea was great, the service so far too. apparently three parts are missing, but I think that won’t be a big problem. from what I have learned about ikea so far, that will also work out without issues. I’m sure about that!
so I can only recommend it. everything went really well, except for the delivery time. and the price—no one beats that. we were in 3 other kitchen stores, and there we always would have paid twice as much!!
so I am (at least so far) very satisfied!

best regards,
kadi

Good evening:

Firstly:

... From a purchase value of 1000.00 € ...

Secondly:

True, trust is good, control is better. So, always check the drawing as well. They make mistakes too. Just a "pro forma".

Thirdly:

I didn’t know that after delivery, you can still "book" an assembly. Hats off. Great service from IKEA.

And last but not least:

@maverick: .. From a purchase value of €1000.00 ... I guess when you buy a kitchen, you (unfortunately) rarely fall below that!

and about the partial assembly: that's also stated on the IKEA homepage. you assemble the carcasses yourself and then have to notify them that you have finished, and then a technician comes out who assembles, connects, and aligns everything else. it costs €239 for 4 hours, and every additional hour he is there costs €40 extra. I didn't have €239 in mind but rather €160, but I don't remember exactly how I came to that!

and one more thing about the three parts that were forgotten during the kitchen delivery: we were offered free redelivery by freight forwarder, but that took too long for us, so we picked them up ourselves at a furniture store. the lady from kitchen home shopping checked beforehand if everything was in stock. for picking them up ourselves, we were then reimbursed for the full travel costs plus two vouchers for a meal with drink in the IKEA restaurant! I find that pretty nice and once again am thrilled with the service!!

Best regards, kadi

Conclusion:

Buying a kitchen made easy and affordable.
Have some fun and get a quote with a kitchen that looks similar to yours from another store. It would be interesting to see how much it would have cost there... And you might make it easier for others to decide where to buy their kitchen here.
How others decide doesn't matter at all.

Did you know that you have a 25-year warranty on your kitchen? So, be sure to keep all the receipts with the individual items carefully...

so we had two other offers from similar kitchens, where we would have paid nearly double in both cases. and those were even cheaper prices. the veneer boards in these offers, for example, I found very poor.

the only thing we didn’t buy from ikea was the countertop. we decided on a solid beech wood glued board, which is also available at ikea, but it would have been relatively expensive there because we have unusual dimensions. so we organized it ourselves.

and regarding the warranty: thanks for the tip! now I file the receipts twice as carefully!
