Hello,
we - Emily, Tim, Anna Lia and Marc, are getting our kitchen delivered by Ikea next week. I am actually quite experienced with DIY and also have the necessary equipment. But first I wanted to ask something that made me a bit suspicious after browsing your forum.
I will first write down the setup so you know what I mean:
From left to right: 40cm Metod with 4 drawers, 80cm Metod with 4 drawers, dishwasher, 60cm base cabinet for domsjö, 140cm tall cabinet for steam oven and oven.
Unfortunately, the kitchen is set up so that we are bound to a rather strict assembly. Since I have read here several times that the Domsjö cannot be built next to a dishwasher (from Electrolux - not from Ikea), I have made the task a bit more difficult... the 60cm Domsjö between the dishwasher and the 140cm tall cabinet.
Oops: I have now been studying the Domsjö assembly instructions online for almost 2 days - do I understand correctly that the sink must rest on the countertop? That would be no problem, I could just cut off a piece as thick as the Metod wall - I guess about 19mm -, drill thin and pre-drilled holes and attach it to the base cabinet - maybe additionally with a perforated sheet metal along the entire length (and yes stainless steel... otherwise the thing might rust after 2 weeks). Since part of the countertop must rest on the base cabinet of the Domsjö, I could do it that way, right? Also, the countertop is 90cm deep at that point and also rests behind the dishwasher (I curse the architect who installed a 1.20m long window sill at 50cm height - and that in a 2014 new building!)
So now my question:
Could it work that way with the support surfaces on the left and right?
Would the attached piece even be visible between the sink and the tall cabinet or would it be flush?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
Regards Marc
