Hi!

I have 2 TV tables with wheels standing around here!!!
According to my research, it should be the Ikea CORRAS model in beech!

Since the color no longer necessarily matches my other furniture (we used the two as bedside tables)
...here is my question:
Can these things be painted/lacquered? Has anyone of you ever tried that?
Or is it better to sell them and get something new?

Best regards
Marion

Hello,
so I will now try to contribute to the solution of your problem, even though I am neither a painter nor a varnisher.

Whether and how the tables can be painted depends, as far as I know, definitely on the surface texture. If they have a real wood veneer overlay, you could try it; with a coated surface, rather not. The tables would first have to be sanded, then primed. The primer must be sanded again and then painted one or more times in the desired color, with sanding after each coat of paint. If it is a plastic surface, you could try applying a plastic primer (I think that's what it is called) first and then paint over it, but whether the paint will hold is more a matter of luck.

If you honestly ask me for my opinion, I wouldn't do it, simply because the materials (primer, paint, etc.) are not exactly inexpensive and the whole thing involves a lot of work with maybe doubtful results. I have painted several Ikea furniture pieces myself and honestly, I was never one hundred percent satisfied with the result. I painted with a roller and although I had no runs, drips or similar and always sanded nicely, the surface afterwards was never like the original parts, not even when you sand again with a very fine grit after the last coat of paint. I think you would have to try it with an airbrush gun. But as I said: I am not a painter either – these are just my experiences.

I hope this helps a bit!

Hmm....first of all, thanks for answering! I think I'll leave the whole thing... afterwards the parts are ruined and then off to the bulky waste! :(
Best regards
