This is what I have at work right now: in the 60 cm cabinet side with 40 cm depth, only one rod fits, which goes from front to back, none from left to right (the rod would of course fit, but no hanger). So I have a thick anorak, a winter jacket, and a lab coat hanging. A second lab coat would also fit, but then it would be cramped. Wet or damp clothes would have no chance either. Shoes only fit in one row. I would definitely plan 60 cm depth in this niche, also put the shoes in there, and with scarves, bags, etc., the cabinet would then be full. A bench, one of the nice wooden ones opposite the cabinet, or if there is a chest of drawers there, somewhere a stool or footstool.

I see it similarly, we have the 1.50 m 60 cm deep of our Pax packed full, and that’s just the two of us. 1 m for jackets, 3 drawers with gloves, scarves, and small items, plus space above the jackets for handbags, my work bag. And you can leave the shoes below. Although even that is tight, the regular wear shoes are already in the bench in the utility room by the side entrance.

Good morning everyone, you have convinced me with the 60 cm depth. Thank you for your experiences. The tall cabinet should then not stand directly to the left of the entrance but all the way to the right, as the light switches are there. Do you mean that the bench/chest of drawers should be opposite, that is, to the right at the door entrance? Unfortunately, no bench would fit there... I would so much like to accommodate cabinets and bench together in the niche so that it creates a uniform picture.

You need

You need closed storage space. A bench is only for sitting down briefly; a chair will do that as well. Use your niche for what is otherwise bulky -> cabinet, cabinet, cabinet
My bench stands openly in a hallway and is somehow 25 cm deep...
But do as you wish: you will eventually curse that you don't have enough cabinets where they don't get in the way

I would also choose a wardrobe throughout. And since the niche is 73 cm deep, immediately make sure that the light switches are placed as close to the door as possible. Or rather, 183 .. after plastering it might be around 181 ... for me, a 175 cm Pax solution with 6 cm panelling would work. Maybe something can be planned with the light switches there. Otherwise, maybe something can be done in the door side panel in the reveal.

Then search for folding stool wall or wall folding stool .. there are some pieces where you can simply mount 2 or 3 on the wall on the right, for example. When not in use, they are out of the way and if needed you fold one down. On the right, you could also attach wall hooks for guest coat storage above these folding stools. The folding stool then also provides some wall protection.
