We can also go with square. But so far we have been with the design to have more garden.
There is nothing against a non-square rectangle; it is often better than a square: you have to be able to "afford" a square, it only "works" (similar to a single-flight straight staircase) properly from about 12 m house width onwards.

Same here. That's why I know quite well which providers with their building proposals come closest to the builder’s own design. They have many functional proposals in this size both with single- and double-flight straight staircases (and also with 45° rotated staircases, which are not a gimmick).
