How to position Ubiquiti AP (nanoHD, or another?) in new construction

If you only operate non-data-intensive devices on the WLAN, then 2 units should be enough. Everything that should work quickly and well belongs on the LAN. I would also position one in the living area and one in the upper floor hallway.

Basically, I would also say one LAN double socket per room. At the TV, however, I would make 2 double sockets, as there are often more than two devices with LAN. Somewhere in the kitchen-dining area and garage, I would also add a double socket. If there is a hobby room somewhere or the attic is possibly expandable, then you should not forget these either.

Where exactly is the network cabinet going? I can’t find a room for the building technology anywhere on the plan.

: To make the Unifi Access Points work, you don’t necessarily need the Cloud Key. It’s enough that the software is installed on a PC, set up once, and then the settings are distributed to the Access Points. The PC doesn’t have to be running all the time, but it has to be the same computer every time. Simply switching is not possible. Of course, if there is a 24/7 device, that’s great. I will now also install the software on my Pi-Hole Raspbery Pi, since it runs anyway.

2 Nanos each in the hallway on the ceiling are sufficient. Does the garden border more on the garage or on the other side of the house?

If on the garage side, I would hang another one there. Definitely lay 2 LAN cables into the garage.

Outside an access point is also planned, both utility rooms (one will be for technology) will have LAN, the garage and the garden house (not visible) as well).

Only that is "relatively simple" For the APs I really have no idea (currently we use AVM in the apartment, it also works without problems. But if new, I wanted something nicer, less conspicuous than the AVM repeaters). Should have enough, be well arranged, so that one does not regret it "later".

*Edit* I just saw that the ubiquiti controller can do a simulation mode.... I'll see what it outputs

Feel free to put it in the garden. But if you have one in the living room, you will be surprised how far its range is. But of course, I don't know how big your garden is and whether you need WLAN coverage to the very last corner. Here in the new development area, the plots are not that huge and the "pollution" with WLAN is already enormous. Every stupid inverter, water softener, etc. nowadays wants to set up a WLAN ...
