I think it's quite a controversial topic, but I would like to know how many sockets you have planned behind the TV. Provided, of course, that everything is organized in one place at your place. Sure, you could also place the receiver and media center separately and operate the TV via HDMI cable. Then the question would be how many sockets are needed at this separate place.
Of course, for us it is
- Network cable (preferably 2x)
- SAT cable
- Speaker socket, so that speakers can be routed to the back
Sockets are absolutely required for:
- Television
- Receiver/amplifier
- Media center e.g. media center PC
- Subwoofer (subwoofers usually active; other speakers usually passive? Don’t shoot me if that’s wrong; I’m no hi-fi expert)
Optionally there are the following
- up to 3 consoles
- additional amplifier
- Sky receiver additionally
- hard disk recorder
- ...
The required number of sockets therefore varies somewhere between at least 4 and up to 10. How many sockets should you install? Or just make 2 and plan a power strip anyway? Or plan 10 and it looks crappy? Oh yeah, we will have to set up the corresponding items described above in 2 places in the living room because the orientation of the couch/TV may be changed.
