some things are already calculated a bit too precisely here. Everyone has different expectations for their phone + contract or\ and their dental supplementary insurance. If a home financing falls through because of the 100 euros, the whole project was already on shaky ground.

The sum makes the difference. Or also: what remains at the end of the month.

It does not fail because of the 100 euros, but because of the 100 here and the 100 there.

We use the Flat300 from Aldi, 7.99€ per month....

No one is being condemned here. It is only explained why some peers with the same income can accumulate equity and others cannot.

But 500€ is quite a lot! Very few can probably afford that alongside saving and building a house! Although we don’t want or need that at all, regardless of whether we can afford it or not, and that’s why I (personally) am glad

That is really an interesting perception. 6000€ per year for leisure and especially vacation for 4! people seems very little to me. In my circle, that easily goes just for vacation (and not necessarily for 4 people).

This is honestly by far the most interesting thread since I started reading. A lot becomes clear to me. And the much-cited setting of priorities is really extreme. Some people apparently hardly need anything that costs money. They do have a nice house, after all. Others would feel that same house is a prison under the same circumstances.

It is also interesting how many convinced, frugal homeowners accuse those who spend more money elsewhere of being wasteful. For example, I’m not so much into technical gimmicks, clothes, etc. But eating out, going out, culture, traveling all cost money as well.
