Hello! We are currently facing the difficult decision of how to orient our house. We now have two favored options (see pictures). The plot is a hillside plot with a slight slope to the south. On the other side of the street, there are more building plots both to the south and to the west. For me, option 1 with the terrace to the south is actually the nicer one (among other things because of the view). I just wonder whether the hidden entrance to the north and the "long" path to it are a bit unusual. I would be very happy to receive opinions and tips. Best regards Option 1 Option 2

For me, the entrance belongs in the "Eingangsbereich" - that is, visibly at the front - many don't care about that. Every standard floor plan can place its terrace according to the sun, also in the cozy sense of the property. If the idea is missing or one can't do it oneself: change the architect or consult a garden landscaper later. Why don't you make the access in the west and the terrace in the south?.

Well, that's good, terrace and garden in the south, entrance in the north, what could be better? You can also easily get there from the carport... I would build it that way.

For me, the entrance would be too hidden.

Is the north side at least bright? I know some entrances in the north that are quite dark and full of moss, not so nice.

Hello,

I would definitely choose option 1 with the south terrace.

Just think about how much of the plot area you would cover with paving in option 2 with the courtyard driveway... I wouldn't want to have to clear snow there in winter...

Regards,

Dirk

Personally, I would choose option 1. The garden would be too fragmented for me with the second option. This way it is clearer and you need fewer paving stones to ensure the driveway.
