Now I will also go beyond the questions asked in the initial thread:
What do you not like: are actually satisfied
Actually would never be enough for me. This statement shows that you are still far from the "I want-to-have design."
Why did the design turn out the way it is now?
the design was precisely adapted to our wishes.
raises something important. What exactly are your wishes and how were you helped to work them out? The measure of good architecture for residential buildings is to enable the lives of the residents, including their preferences, habits, tasks, and goals, as best as possible. Without dealing with this, one can save oneself an individual design and take something off the shelf that somehow appeals.
Examples:
[*]We want the children to feel equally well treated. For architecture, this means equivalent and equally sized rooms.
[*]We like sociability and enjoy being in the same room even when we are engaged in different tasks like "cooking, eating, relaxing." For architecture, this means that we want to realize these areas in one room.
[*]Our family communication hub is the dining table. For architecture, this means that the dining table gets a central position in our house.
[*]We enjoy fresh air and like having open terrace doors from spring to autumn and the feeling of being "outside." For architecture, this means that the house is designed so that no heat buildup occurs in summer.
[*]I dream of having my own workshop with access to the garden. A sporadically heated dry room is enough for me. Please make a suggestion.
[*]I would like to have my food supplies neatly organized in one place. This also includes drinks for me. So far, I have only seen this in the form of a pantry. Please make us a suggestion.
[*]In housework, we quickly get annoyed by unnecessary routines. For architecture, this means: short and sensible routes for cooking, washing, cleaning tasks – for the latter also cleaning-friendly rooms (few corners and edges) and materials.
[*]Our children ride their bikes a lot. It is important to us that the children can easily reach and store the bikes and at the same time our car(s) is not in the way.
[*]In summer we want to be able to go into the garden without having to walk through the house.
[*]We feel good when it is bright in the house...
[*]We are happy to do without this "standard" because this and that simply is not important to us / does not occur.
[*]In old age, we want...
[*]When our children are teenagers, we want...
[*]...
Have you ever made such a list?
